Rock of Ages “Images of the Era”

February 5, 2013

Weiss has a long-standing history with the iconic bands whose songs inspired the musical, ROCK OF AGES. Featured throughout the show are the rock anthems I WANNA ROCK and WE’RE NOT GONNA TAKE IT, from TWISTED SISTER’S 1984 album STAY HUNGRY, which was Mark’s first album cover.  In 1986 he photographed the cover of BON JOVI’S SLIPPERY WHEN WET, the monumental album that gave us WANTED DEAD OR ALIVE.  Mark has been working with POISON, (EVERY ROSE HAS ITS THORN) since the release of their first album in 1986, through their current tour. He first shot JOURNEY in 1978 and then a few years later in 1981, he shot them clowning around backstage when they opened up for the Rolling Stones -- the same year DON’T STOP BELIEVIN’ was released.

At Rock Of Ages opening Mark continues his collaboration with the recent grand opening of ROCK OF AGES at the Venetian in Las Vegas.  Mark's iconic body of work from the decade welcomes theatergoers throughout the walls of the 1,100 seat theater.  To see the 80s in all it's decadent glory through the lens of Mark "WEISSGUY" Weiss adds to the experience, as he almost single-handedly captured the images of the music  that "Rocked  the Ages!"

"It's great to get insight into the era of 80s rock-n-roll via a treasure trove of photographs skillfully captured in front of Mark Weiss' camera lens.  THE DECADE THAT ROCKED!! is the perfect time capsule for Mark's work finally being released upon the masses in 2012."
