Mark Weiss knows how to get out of a slippery situation. Weiss is the guy who photographed the famous1986 "Slippery When Wet" album cover for Bon Jovi. Actually, he shot three versions of the cover.

The picture that appears on the album today was substituted after the original cover---featuring a busty lass clad in a skimpyyellow T-shirt -- was deemed too racy.

"It was the time when the PMRC Parents Music Resource Center) was cracking down on everything" says Weiss, a native of Old Bridge, NJ. "They printed up a bunch of copies and then decided to nix it"

Jon Bon Jovi subsequently visited Weiss' New York studio in an effort to come up with a new cover.

"Jon said get me a black plastic bag" and we hung it up and then he said "Get me a spray bottle" Weiss said "I put oil mixed with water in the bottleto make it drippy then Jon wrote "SLIPPERY WHEN WET" and said "Thats it send it to the art director" and then he left.

That's how rockers do it. The third version of the album cover? Prior to the two already discussed Weiss shot the guys in full beards for that cowboy look -- When the album was originally going to be titled "Wanted Dead or Alive" That concept changed

"They wanted "SLIPPERY WHEN WET" to appeal more to the guys as they already had the female fan base" Weiss said.

Weiss has the stories as he's shot everyone from Ozzy Osbourne to Rhianna. The Cedar Ridge High school class of '77 graduate comes back to town on Wendsday to raise money for an American Diabetes Association silent auction at the Golds Gym located in the Shopes in Old Bridge.

Weiss' photographs is also on display at Jamian's in Red Bank and the photographer plans to give hands-on lessons in music photography Primal Stare Studios in Tinton Falls, NJ on February 27th. Go to www.primalstarestudios.com for additional information.
